Applicant Gets 2 Months Imprisonment For Stealing DVD Player

A court in the Karmo Grade 1 area, Abuja, condemned Wednesday a 31-year-old appellant, Christopher Ogbeche, to a two-month prison term for stealing a DVD player.
The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the condemned the possibility of paying a fine of 5,000 dollars.
Ogbeche from Karmo from the police station was convicted of theft.
The convict admitted he had committed the crime and urged the court to temper justice with mercy, because he did not know what had happened to him.

Earlier, the public prosecutor, Ifeoma Ukahga, had told the court that an Esther Suleiman of Idu referred the matter to the Karmo police station on May 8.
He said the detainee came to their hotel, Professor Suite, located in Idu, and stole a DVD player worth N10,000.
During police investigations, he confessed the crime and begged forgiveness.
He said the infraction infringed the provisions of Section 288 of the Penal Code.
